Meredith Allen - Sailing
Meredith has enjoyed one design sail boat racing for close to 25 years - starting out on a Tanzer 16 (her first major purchase after graduating college). Sail boat racing became a passion and through the years she has either crewed and/or skippered the Flying Scot, Lightning, J24, and Laser sail boats in one design races and crewed for non one design races on the Beneteau 31s and S2 7.9s sailboats.
Most of Meredith's sailing experience has been either on the Flying Scot or Lightning sailboats, having crewed in either the foredeck or spinnaker trimmer positions in the following major regattas: North Carolina Governor's Cup, The Flying Scot Great 48, Flying Scot Nationals, and Flying Scot Midwinters, Lightning Midwinters, Lightning Nationals, Lightning South Americans, and Lightning Worlds.
Due to the harsh conditions associated with racing daily for weeks at a time, she has been forced (doctor's orders) to retire from competitive racing. Now, she leisurely sails, excited about sharing her knowledge and experience with others (but still trims those sails for optimal performance)
