The Davidson College telephone system provides distinctive ringing on your telephone to let you know if a call is external (from off-campus) or internal (from on-campus). A double ring indicates an external call. A single ring indicates an internal call.
This new distinctive ring pattern does not affect the ring type that you can have on your telephone. A ring type is a distinctive sound that you have your telephone make so you can identify your telephone from others that may be ringing at the same time. See telephone features for more information. You can still have different ring types; they now incorporate the distinctive ring patterns described above.
