Davidson College Fellows Program

Participants in the Davidson College Fellows Program will become full-time college employees for one year in a number of key areas campus-wide. The program has been established to provide a variety of challenging opportunities to work in a higher education setting.

Fellows may also attend professional conferences or take courses related to their employment.

Qualifications: The qualified applicant must be a current Davidson College senior who will graduate in the spring or a recent Davidson graduate who has been out of school for no more than two (2) years.

Position Information: Positions are for a one-year term. Positions are classified as 40 hours per week and are exempt (salaried) for Fair Labor Standards Act guidelines.

Leave:  Participants in the Davidson College Fellows Program are eligible for a total of 10 vacation  and 12 sick days per year, which is accrued monthly.  As Davidson College employees, Fellows are also eligible for up to 11 paid holidays each year. Holiday pay is granted after 30 days of continuous employment. 

Length of Employment:  One year beginning Summer 2009 

Training and Development:  Fellows are eligible for an allocation of $500 that may be used to assist in payment for annual professional conference attendance or towards the cost of one course per semester at Davidson College or another local college or university in a subject area related to the position held.

Housing:   Assistance finding affordable housing options in the Davidson area.

Only completed applications will be reviewed by the department head for consideration of employment. The department head will evaluate the completed applications of all candidates and determine those to be interviewed. Interview appointments will be scheduled by the hiring department head. The department head will decide which applicant to hire and will offer the position to the chosen applicant. Notification letters advising the position has been filled will be sent to all applicants (except the chosen applicant) by either the interviewing department head or HR.
