Summer 2008
And the winner is... While we are all winners, some of the brightest Davidson stars shone during the annual Spring Awards Convocation on April 30. Davidson awarded an honorary degree (see story on p. xx) and recognized students, faculty, staff, and even a community member for academic and community achievements.
Come Back Soon! Reunion 2008 was just about perfect, with nearly 900 alumni and guests returning from the classes of 1958, 1968, 1973, 1983, 1988, and 1998. Davidson’s first female Rhodes Scholar and Agnes Scott President Elizabeth Kiss ’83 was among many alumni honored during the weekend.
Her remarks were the highlight of an all-alumni gathering Saturday morning in the Duke Family Performance Hall. In her remarks that morning, Kiss observed, “What’s happily unchanged is the spirit of the place, from the Honor Code to the confident smiles and hellos of students who know, as only liberal arts college students truly feel and know, that this is their place, their community, the place devoted to them.”
You can read her entire speech. Sponsored by the Union Board, the first show hit the Web last fall, with two more to follow in the spring semester.
