Located just off of Interstate 77, the community of Davidson has managed to maintain a small-town feel in the midst of a booming metropolis. With Lake Norman just off-campus and the city of Charlotte only 20 minutes south, there is plenty to do in and around Davidson.
• Davidson and Lake Norman • Happenings in Charlotte
Students at Davidson usually refer to local resources by their I-77 exit number. So, in similar fashion, the following are common destinations by exit:
(to the north) • Exit 52 - I-40 junction • Exit 36 - Mooresville • Exit 33 - Lake Norman
• Exit 30 - Davidson and Davidson College
(to the south) • Exit 28 - Cornelius • Exit 25 and 23 - Huntersville • Exit 18 - Harris Blvd (Northlake Mall) • Exit 13 - I-85 junction • Exit 11 - Uptown Charlotte
Davidson students are allowed to keep their cars on campus for all four years. In addition, CATS (the Charlotte Area Transit System), has two stops in Davidson. Take advantage of the CATS 77x route while you're in town. All you'll need is 30 minutes and $2.00 to get to center-city Charlotte.
Whether you want to window shop in Davidson’s downtown, take a dip in the lake, or relax outdoors to the sounds of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Davidson’s surrounding area provides a myriad of opportunities.
