Huntersville, N.C. – On Friday, April 25, one hundred and twenty six alumni and supporters of the Davidson Golf Program took to the links at Birkdale Golf Club for the 14th Annual Tom Scott Memorial Golf Tournament.

Sponsored by the Davidson Athletic Foundation, the tournament serves as an annual fundraiser for the Davidson College golf program. This year the tournament netted over $20,000 for golf scholarships.

The Tournament is named in honor of Dr. Tom Scott, former Director of Athletics at Davidson from 1954 to 1975.  Dr. Scott left a thumb print on regional sports as five-term president of Southern Conference, and will also be remembered as a leader in integrating athletics throughout the South, and by helping prepare Davidson for women’s athletics in 1974.

This year’s tournament saw plenty of action. One of the more amazing moments was a double eagle on hole 17 by the eventual low gross winners.

Thank you to all those who came out to play or made a gift to the Tom Scott Memorial Golf Scholarship.
