Mock Trial Association
Established in 1999, the Davidson College Mock Trial Association was a student-run organization until 2007, when it partnered with the McIntosh Law Firm. Under student leadership, Davidson has qualified a team to the national tournament every year since 2003. In 2005, Davidson ranked seventh in the nation. With the support and guidance fostered by its new relationship with the McIntosh Law Firm, Davidson looks forward to future success. Davidson College Mock Trial gives members an opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge about the theory and practice of law in America; sends teams to trial advocacy competitions throughout the academic year; student-run program that competes consistently on the national championship level. Regional Tournament The South Atlantic Regional I and II Furman University Greenville, South Carolina February 1-2, 2008 Case Summary (2007-2008) On November 30, 2006, Child Protective Services worker Don/Dawn Francis arrived at the home of Bobbi Campbell to remove a child from Bobbi's care. Upon arrival, Francis entered the location and defendant Campbell stabbed Francis with a needle infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. On October 1, 2007, Campbell entered into an open guilty plea on the single charge of Assault in the Second Degree and retained the right to a jury sentence recommendation. A penalty phase will now be conducted. The State will present evidence of aggravation and the defense may present evidence of mitigation. The penalty range is five to thirty years.
