| DCSO and Jazz Ensemble Hit the Road |

Dr. Tara Villa Chamra and Dr. Bill Lawing will lead the Davidson College Symphony Orchestra and the Jazz Ensemble on their Winter Tour through the southeast United States. The DCSO will perform selections from Overture to La forza del destino by Giuseppe Verdi, Pelléas et Mélisande, Suite for Orchestra, Op. 80 by Gabriel Fauré, "Bacchanale" from Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns, and Symphonie fantastique: épisode de la vie d’un artiste, Op. 14 by Hector Berlioz.  To contrast the first half of the program, the Jazz Ensemble will perform a variety of jazz tunes including, Summertime by George Gershwin (arr. Bill Potts), On the Street Where You Live by Frederic Loewe (arr. Lennie Niehaus), Miles Back by Les Hooper, Sister Sadie by Horace Silver (arr. Mike Pendowski), and I’ll Be Around by Alec Wilder (arr. Bill Holman).
