Fall Convocation and Inauguration of Thomas Warren Ross as President of Davidson College

The Class of 2008 will march in academic regalia for the first time.  The ceremony will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27 on Chambers Lawn, with lunch immediately following.

Educational Opportunities for Parents

Parents are invited to attend presentations on Friday afternoon, including the American Chemical Society-Student Affiliates’ chemistry magic show; a discussion about the Dean Rusk International Studies Program and Duke Residence Hall collaboration; and, a presentation by the Davidson College Office of Career Services.  Parents may also attend Friday classes with their student, with advance permission from the professor.  In addition, families are invited to a reception with faculty on Friday afternoon.

Fine Arts Entertainment

The Davidson College Theatre Department presents its fall production of Women Beware Women by Thomas Middleton, a Jacobean revenge tragedy on par with Shakespeare’s best work.  Directed by Visiting Assistant Professor Mark Sutch, Middleton’s play tells a gripping story of fleeting love, the corruption of youth, and brutal revenge.  Three young innocents are dragged deeper and deeper into a tangled web of deceit and betrayal, culminating in a shocking and violent finale. The Guardian called the play “Romeo and Juliet for grown-ups.”  Recommended for mature audiences.
