Parents may register in the Brown Atrium of the Alvarez College Union on Friday, October 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Fall Convocation 

The college community comes together to honor outstanding students and faculty. The Class of 2010 will march in academic regalia for the first time. Join us Saturday, October 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Duke Family Performance Hall in the Knobloch Campus Center. Picnic lunch will follow.

Educational Opportunities for Parents

Parents are invited to attend presentations on Friday afternoon, including the American Chemical Society-Student Affiliates' chemistry magic show or a discussion titled "Making the Most of College and Careers" highlighting careers for liberal arts students in unique economic times. Parents may also attend Friday classes with their student with advance permission from the professor. In addition, families are invited to a reception with faculty on Friday afternoon.

Religious Services

Those wanting to attend services at area houses of worship can find a schedule of local options by clicking here. In addition to the worship service offered at Davidson College Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, the Chaplain's Office is sponsoring the Hillel Shabbat Service on Friday, October 23 at 6:15 p.m. in the Congregation House of Davidson College Presbyterian Church and the Campus Catholic Ministry Mass on Sunday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sprinkle Room of the Alvarez College Union.

Fine Arts Entertainment

The Davidson College Theatre Department presents its fall production of Molière's Tartuffe, directed by Ann Marie Costa. Tartuffe is a funny and provocative French comedy classic. The New York Times says, "Hypocrisy never seems to go out of fashion and Moliere's cautionary tale of the perils of holier than thou religious fervor is as timely as ever." This show is for mature audiences. Recommended for ages 13 and up.

The Davidson College Symphony Orchestra and Concert Choir perform in the Davidson College Presbyterian Church Sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23.

The Davidson Jazz Ensemble will play in the C. Shaw Smith 900 Room of the Alvarez College Union on Friday, October 23 at 10:00 p.m.

The Van Every/Smith Galleries current exhibit is STARING which includes paintings and drawings by Doug Auld and Chris Rush; and the photographs of Weegee, Diane Arbus, and additional artists. The gallery hours are weekdays 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. and weekends noon- 4:00 p.m.
