If you are using this URL for a print publication, be sure to include in your project request form. It is the responsibility of the person/department making the request to verify the accuracy of the URL for all print materials. URL's cannot be redirected to address errors found after printing.
Requests made for URL shortcuts are for publication purposes will be created based on the following criteria:
1) There may only be one shortcut /URL per department /program
2) The URL shortcut is limited to the department / program office or cover page
One virtual directory per department/program
A department is an academic department (organization with a chair) or an administrative unit (e.g. Human Resources would be considered a department) and program is an administrative unit with a specialized name ( e.g. Dean Rusk would be considered a program). The URL shortcut is used to shorten the URL, not to provide individual URL shortcuts for all department interest or sub groups.
Example: The link http://www3.davidson.edu/cms/x1079.xml can be shortened by creating a URL shortcut to HR which refers to the human resources department cover page, http://www.davidson.edu/HR.
A link to the employee benefits page would be found at http://www.davidson.edu/HR and a second URL shortcut will not be established.
If your request meets the above listed criteria, please allow a minimum of two weeks lead time and send an email to the HelpDesk with the following information:
- Specific reason/usage for the URL
- The XID of the page where the URL will point
- Date when the URL needs to be active
