A club sport is a student organization formed by individuals with a common interest in a sport activity and exists to promote and develop interest in that particular sport. Clubs may be instructional, recreational, competitive or a combination. Students are responsible for organizing, funding, regulating and scheduling activities for these club teams under the direction of the Assistant Director of Physical Education and Recreation. The club is coached by Colleen Gallant who is certified to teach both epee and foil fencing. The club provided all the equipment that fencers need, and it also provides opportunities for students to compete. In the past, the club has participated in competitions in Charlotte, Elkin, Raleigh, and Columbia. Whenever a student competes, the Fencing Club reimburses all tournament fees through the Club Sports Office. While the club does not require its members to compete, it is highly recommended.
