Julie Grubbs was a Music and Spanish double major and recipient of the J. Estes Millner music scholarship from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Upon arrival at Davidson, she has been playing cello for 13 years, performing solo, chamber, and orchestral work around the Twin Cities and Charlotte, North Carolina.
At Davidson, she enjoyed taking private lessons, playing in the orchestra, and performing with the Aurora Piano Trio, a student ensemble she founded in her sophomore year. She was also the musical director of the co-ed a cappella group Androgyny and helped the group record two CDs. Julie’s passion for languages guided her towards learning Portuguese and also lead her to positions as an Assistant Teacher and tutor for the Spanish department.
After studying and working abroad in Cádiz and Madrid, Spain as well as Buenos Aires, Argentina, Julie would like to return to either country to teach English for a year or two before pursuing a graduate degree in Linguistics.
