Course Requirements Music minors are required to take the following courses: 1. Four courses, each in the areas of study represented in the department (music theory, music history, world musics, and music of the U.S.): a) Fundamentals of Music (MUS 101) or Theory 1: Harmony (201) b) Introduction to Music in Western Civilization (MUS 121) c) World Musics (MUS 141) d) Music of the U.S. (MUS 122)
2. Two additional courses at the 200 level or above. (Note: MUS 101, 121, 155, 255, 256, or 355 do not count toward the minor.)
3. Ensemble Participation and Applied Lessons Music minors are required to take at least two semesters of ensemble participation (MUS 10, 11, or 12) or two semesters of applied lessons (MUS 55 or MUS 155–355). Concert and Lecture Attendance Music minors are expected to attend regularly the concerts, recitals, and lectures presented by the Music.
