 | Davidson College Faculty Exhibition: McArthur Freeman, Herb Jackson, Cort Savage, and Russ Warren October 15 – December 8, 2004 |
This exhibition features new paintings by Herb Jackson and Russ Warren, as well as new sculptures by Cort Savage. McArthur Freeman is Davidson College’s 2004-2006 Visiting Art Faculty member. He holds an M.F.A. in Painting from Cornell University and most recently was a Professor of Art at Clarion University in Pennsylvania. He began drawing at a young age, and has always had a fascination with the expressive potential of the human figure. He continues to create works exploring identity that utilize both the personal and the polemical as an approach. He uses his artwork as a method of collecting the images and experiences of our culture. In this way, he views his paintings and drawings as a type of portraiture because they signify individual and cultural identity.
