Q: Why should I attend S.T.R.I.D.E.? A: This program is designed to aid students with their adjustment and introduce them to faculty, staff and other peers who can aid their transition by sharing experiences and establishing a support network. This program has proven success. Since the S.T.R.I.D.E. Program, the retention and graduation rate of Minority Students has continually increased.
Q: Who can attend the Pre-College Enrichment portion of S.T.R.I.D.E.? A: Any first year student of color.
Q: What are the dates for Pre- College Enrichment? A: Pre-College Enrichment begins on August 19th and goes until August 22nd. New Student Orientation begins on August 23rd.
Q: How much does Pre-College Enrichment cost? A: Pre-College Enrichment does not cost anything. As long as you are a Davidson Student and you have registered online you are able to attend.
Q: Where will students live during the Pre-College Enrichment experience? A: Students will live in their assigned room for the academic year.
Q: If I am flying or taking a train to Charlotte, or any of the surrounding areas, will there be transportation or a shuttle from to bring me to campus? A: Yes, there is transportation provided. Please contact Dr.Ernest Jeffries if transportation is necessary so we can coordinate transportation arrangements.
Q: If I cannot attend the Pre-College Enrichment part of S.T.R.I.D.E. can I still participate in the program? A: Yes, Please fill out the registration and choose the box that implies that you will not attend pre-college enrichment. You will be given a mentor and be included in all other aspects of the program. You will receive an e-mail to confirm your participation status.
Q: If I decide not to participate at this time, will I have the opportunity to join throughout the year? A: Yes, at any point throughout the year you can contact Dean Ernest Jeffries and he will place you with a mentor and add you to the e-mail list serve.
Q: If I am a fall athlete or Bonner Scholar can I attend PCEP?
A: Yes, We have special schedules worked out with the Coaches and Program Director for Bonner that will accommodate your attendance.
