Emergency Medical Insurance and Travel Assistance

                                   EMERGENCY MEDICAL INSURANCE AND
                                      TRAVEL ASSISTANCE INFORMATION
 

1)   EIIA/Chartis Travel Assistance information, card and sticker.  Davidson College provides students, staff, and faculty on a Davidson College sponsored activity abroad as well as approved non-Davidson College study abroad programs with international emergency travel assistance through EIIA/Chartis Travel Assistance insurance.  This insurance is provided by the college at no cost to its participants.  This insurance is to be used as a SUPPLEMENT to a participant’s primary health insurance coverage.  PLEASE NOTE:  This does NOT replace your primary health insurance.  It also provides the participant with emergency travel assistance benefits.  This insurance is ONLY in effect during the study abroad program or sponsored activity.  Abroad participants are given an EIIA/Chartis Travel Assistance card and asked to carry it with them as they travel.  They are also given a sticker to affix to the back of their passport.  The Dean Rusk International Studies Program Office distributes these cards and stickers to all abroad participants.

2) The Hartford Travel Assistance Information.  This is ONLY for active full-time Davidson College employees, and their families, covered under Davidson College’s group life insurance policy.  This is NOT for students.  This travel assistance is to be used ONLY AFTER the EIIA/Chartis Travel Assistance services have been used.  Those qualifying individuals described above are automatically enrolled.  

3)   ISIC/ITIC – The International Student or Teacher Identification Card provides additional travel assistance and supplemental medical insurance (among other benefits), should one choose to purchase it.  Go to www.isic.org or contact the Davidson College Study Abroad Office for more details.  The Davidson Study Abroad Office is an official card issuing office.  The current cost for either card is $22 and one can either provide a passport sized photo or have one taken at the Study Abroad Office for $2.

4)   CMI Insurance – This insurance option is one of many available, for a minimal fee, to students, faculty and staff members while pursuing educational activities outside the United States as a participant of a study abroad program or experience.  CMI provides medical coverage, emergency medical evacuation benefits, repatriation benefits and more.  Go to www.cmi-insurance.com for more information.
