Sailing (Club) The purpose of this organization is to increase the knowledge and appreciation of competitive collegiate sailing among the Davidson College populace. For more information contact Catie Hoyt.
Salvation Army Center of Hope Volunteers tutor on Mondays from 5-6 P.M. at the Boys & Girls Club, located at the Salvation Army Center of Hope in Charlotte. They tutor K-8 students who live at the Center, a shelter for women and children. The tutors strive to help the children with schoolwork and reading while fostering their desire to learn. Scholars Helping Scholars Volunteers tutor local K-12 students during the week from 3:30 - 5pm. Volunteers may come any number of days they want. They assist with courses in English, math, sciences, and languages. For more information contact Ashley Sherrill.
S.E.E.D.S. of Education S.E.E.D.S. seeks to educate, inspire, and empower Davidson students to pursue lives of leadership and service in the broad field of education by using the issue of the enduring achievement gap as a lens through which Davidson students can better understand the fundamental role of students, teachers, administrators, schools, and community members in creation of a democratic society. Shades of Brown Step Team Davidson's Shades of Brown is a step troupe composed of members from diverse dancing backgrounds. The mission of Shades of Brown is to increse cultural diversity within our community through exhibitions of historic step performances and to represent Davidson college in competitions and other engagements on the local and national levels. Sigma Alpha Epsilon The North Carolina Theta chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity was established at Davidson College in 1883. Sigma Alpha Epsilon moved to Patterson Court in 1958 as one of the original houses. For more information contact Eli Khan.
Sigma Phi Epsilon The North Carolina Epsilon chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity was established in 1930. Sigma Phi Epsilon moved into their house in 1985. For more information contact Drake Varn.
Soccer (Club) Club Soccer gives students an outlet to play competitive soccer against other colleges and universities in a more relaxed environment. For more information please contact Rachel Cole, Samantha Ellison, or Mariah Graham.
Society of Secular Students The purpose of this organization is threefold: a) To provide awareness of secular and nontheistic lifestlyes and debunk stereotypes regarding them; b) to provide a forum for discussion of issues facing atheists and secularists; c) to provide service opportunities for the irreligious similar to those of religiously oriented service groups. Sports Marketing Association The Davidson Sports Marketing Association strives to strengthen the Davidson community by encouraging students to attend athletic events through the Wildcat Pride program and promotions. For more information contact Beth Bondurant.
Sportsmen's Society The Davidson College Sportsmen's Society aims to promote friendship among all men and women on campus who hunt or fish. We intend to preserve our outdoor heritage through education, wildlife conservation, the discussion of ethical practices in the field, and the expansion of outdoor opportunities at Davidson College. Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) The SAAC impliments ideas to better promote academics and athletic achievement among Davidson varsity athletes. It also encourages the Davidson students and faculty to attend sporting events. For more information contact Michael Lamoureux or Natalie Atabek.
Student Government Association (SGA) The purpose of the SGA is to contribute to the welfare of the student body in the context of the college. The SGA serves as a mechanism for recognizing the collective voice of the students, implements student directives, and seeks to improve the quality of student life at Davidson. The SGA represents the student body to the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and administration, in order to share the responsibility for developing and maintaining Davidson as a superior academic community. Students for New Learning (SNL) The purpose of this organization is to congregate students with special or alternative means of learning. This includes those diagnosed with medical ADD, ADHD, etc. The group tries to support the styles and techniques of each student to further the educational experiences of Davidson College. Swing and Salsa Club We teach the basics of swing and salsa dancing, creating an opportunity for students to enjoy dancing and cooperative learning. We also build student confidence in social situations and dancing environments. For more information contact Gabriela Baldeon.
