Our Programs

Chidsey Leadership Development offers students four different components for enhancing and building a leadership style and philosophy.  Each component is designed to meet a student's individual needs, regardless of prior leadership experience.

Chidsey Leadership Fellows is a four year, comprehensive leadership development program that offers participants an opportunity to develop a strong foundation for a life of leadership.  Fellows is open to first year Davidson students and does require a four year commitment.

Leadership Davidson is a year-long leadership development program where students partake in weekly seminars designed by the participants themselves and are mentored by successful leaders in the business and nonprofit sectors.  Leadership Davidson is open to rising Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.

Leadership Retreat is a three day event where students explore leadership development topics that are relevant to a broad cross-section of the student body. The retreat is planned by a committee comprised of students, staff and faculty.  The Leadership Retreat is open to all students.  It takes place in the Spring Semester after final exams and before commencement.

Consulting and Coaching services are customized to the needs of individual students and organizations.  Student leaders meet one-on-one with the director of student leadership development to discuss the individual leadership challenges they face.  They can also request support to facilitate a session with their group to address a particular problem.  Past leaders have requested help with group dynamics, building accountability, managing among their peers, and transitioning the executive board.  Contact Julia Baker Jones at x2108 to request an appointment. 

In addition, Chidsey Leadership regularly hosts a Lecture Series, special workshops, retreats and learning opportunities.  Chidsey Leadership is nurturing the student-led initiative to hold Davidson's first annual Women's Leadership Conference, which will be held February 20-21, 2009.

Finally, the Chidsey Leadership Office houses a library of books, tapes, dvd's and other resources for more self directed research and learning.
