Instructional Technology workshops are open to faculty intending to gain the skills required for the creation of teaching resources and course materials and to assist in research.  Admission is first-come, first-served.  Announcements will also be sent via email and posted on the ITSNews blog.


Workshop Schedule

Capturing video and preparing for class use

Do you need to capture VHS or DVD video for classes or presentations?
Do you want to capture online video or audio streaming for educational use on demand?

If your answer is "yes" but you don't know how, let us show you.  At the end of this workshop, you will be able to capture video and audio from VHS, DVD and the Internet, and convert and save them in an appropriate format for classroom computers or the Internet.  Copyright and fair use guidelines will be covered.  No computer skills required.

Web design basics for course materials

This workshop is for faculty wanting to learn how to develop web-based resources for instruction.  The workshop introduces basic web design skills using Dreamweaver, a web-authoring application.  This is not a CMS training course.  No prerequisite skills are required. At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

1. Create web pages with embedded images, video clips, and audio files
2. Make links among web pages
3. Utilize menus for easy navigation
4. Design and manage web pages with consistency

Styling your web site

This workshop introduces an easy way to style a web site with a consistent look on every page.  Prior experience in Dreamweaver is recommended but not required.  This is not a CMS training course.

Do you need to create a blog for class? This workshop introduces the Davidson owned blogging program, Movable Type. With this program, you can create cutting-edge blogs and Professional web sites to build a vibrant social network.

This presentation to faculty is hands-on, and will cover the newly designed Grade Center as well as Web 2.0 tools, specifically blogs, wikis and podcasts within your Blackboard course.
