The Myths and Realities
An introduction to the college search process from Vice President and Dean of Admission & Financial Aid, Christopher J. Gruber.

2:00 pm
The Inside Pieces
Sessions for students led by members of the Davidson admission staff and secondary school counselors that focus on the importance of close self-examination at the beginning of the college search.

2:00 pm (concurrent session)
The Parent's Role
Members of the Davidson admission staff and parents of college-age students discuss the roles parents should play in the college search process.

3:00 pm
Admission Seminars
     These topics will be addressed back-to-back:

  • Researching Colleges
  • Writing Application Essays

5:00pm
Campus Tours

Tour the campus with a student guide. Learn what to look for and which questions to ask on future college visits.

6:30pm
President's Reception

Join Davidson College President Carol Quillen for a cocktail reception.

7:15pm
Dinner with the Deans
A panel of distinguished Deans of Admission will discuss issues related to the admission process.



FRIDAY, JUNE 14

8:45 am
The Admission Application

In small groups, families will review types of college applications, learn what institutions look for in an application, and complete an admission committee case study exercise.

11:15 am
External Factors
     Choose from one of the following seminar topics:

  • Financial Aid and Merit Scholarships
  • Visiting College Campuses
  • Talking with Athletic Coaches

12:15 pm
Lunch

1:00-4:00 pm
Family Meetings and Farewell Reception

Families will meet individually with one of our admission or secondary school professionals to discuss any questions or concerns related to the college process.
