Ars Longa Ars Longa seeks to facilitate students of all academic disciplines in creating works of visual art and promoting visual arts events campus-wide. In recent years, Ars Longa has hosted renowned artists to campus, organized student photography exhibitions, held weekly figure-drawing classes, and offered off-campus ceramic workshops. Asian Culture & Awareness Association Is committed to promoting awareness within Davidson of the contributions of the Asian/Asian American population. ACAA strives to maintain a sense of unity among the Asian American students of Davidson College, while inviting all students, Asian and non-Asian, to explore and cultivate their interests in Asian and Asian American culture. Black Student Coalition (BSC) Aims to establish and maintain a spirit of solidarity and support among the black students of Davidson College; to recognize the contributions of black persons to the college; and to embrace the diverse origins of the Davidson community. Building Tomorrow Building Tomorrow is an organization on campus dedicated to raising awareness of and funds for vulnerable Ugandan youth, including those affected by HIV/AIDS. We are currently working on to raise money to build a school for a community in Kampala, Uganda. For more information contact Paige Bates.
Curry Club Promotes awareness of South Asian Values and cultures through lectures, presentations, and native foods. For more information contact Shivani Dasani.
Davidson Creates Davidson Creates is a group of students who is committed and dedicated to uplifting the Arts at Davidson College. We believe that every Davidson student has a creative spark, and by nourishing this spark we can improve Davidson College and impact the greater community. Davidson International Association (DIA) Has grown from an organization that represented the interests of foreign nationals to an association for all Davidson College students interested in promoting cultural awareness and global interdependence. For more information contact Mallika Kirti.
Dean Rusk Student Advisory Committee The Student Advisory Committee conceives and implements ideas for programs, plans cultural events and study breaks, and publishes a newsletter on current events. For more information contact Larissa Hohe.
Hillel Hillel at Davidson provides opportunities for the celebration of Jewish holidays and the exploration of Jewish heritage and faith by both people who are and are not Jewish. For more information contact Drew Daniller-Varghese.
The Karre Project The purpose of the Karre Project is to raise awareness, fundraise money, and bring medical/school volunteers to a remote village in the mountainside of Nepal - to continue a project already begun by a Davidson student. For more information contact Andrew Ma.
L.E.A.D. Empowering Latino women in Mecklenburg County to enter the workforce by providing them with assessments of their resources, helping them with interviewing skills, and providing them with buisiness attire. For more information contact Jessica Gallegos.
Libertas An arts and literary magazine, published biweekly, with open submissions for creative nonfiction short stories, poetry, and art. For more information contact Lila Allen and Kate Wiseman.
Middle Eastern Cross-Cultural Association (MECCA) To raise awareness about the Middle Eastern region, its religion and its culture. For more information contact Lauren Khater.
Muslim Students Association (MSA) The purpose of the Muslim Students Association is to facilitate a forum of education on Islam, the world's second largest and fastest growing religion, for Muslims and non-Muslims. MSA helps Muslim students find their place in the college environment. The MSA also celebrates Muslim holidays and promotes peace and cooperation with all other religious groups on campus. Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) OLAS aims to foster and maintain a spirit of solidarity among students interested in Hispanic cultures, including but not limited to Spanish speaking countries and their descndants. OLAS is an all-inclusive organization committed to promoting of the uniqueness of Hispanic cultures by providing a wide range of opportunities to participate in social, cultural, and/or communtiy service events for all Davidson students, Hispanic or non-Hispanic. Sistahs of Essence To provide a support system to all women especially women of color. Sistah's of Essence seeks to provide an encouraging and productive outlet for women through organized social and cultural development and community service. For more information contact Imani Bowen.
STAND The purpose of STAND Davidson is threefold: 1) to honor, memorialize and educate about people who died under circumstances of great horror and to stand in solidarity with victims of genocide; 2) to struggle against current genocides; and 3) to ensure that crimes of such violence will never occur again. STEPS Into the Hispanic Community Students provide childcare and serve as tutors and mentors to Hispanic children while their parents are in English as a Second Language classes.
