Arts & Cultural Awareness

Ars Longa
Ars Longa seeks to facilitate students of all academic disciplines in creating works of visual art and promoting visual arts events campus-wide. In recent years, Ars Longa has hosted renowned artists to campus, organized student photography exhibitions, held weekly figure-drawing classes, and offered off-campus ceramic workshops. The club also maintains the darkroom, located in the basement of Belk Visual Arts Center.  For more information contact Elise Breda.

Asian Culture & Awareness Association
Is committed to promoting awareness within Davidson of the contributions of the Asian/Asian American population. ACAA strives to maintain a sense of unity among the Asian American students of Davidson College, while inviting all students, Asian and non-Asian, to explore and cultivate their interests in Asian and Asian American culture. Balkan Association of Davidson (B.A.D.)
The mission of the Balkan Association of Davidson is to bring together students of Balkan descent and students who want to learn about the region and to celebrate their heritage and share in the experience of university life. Black Student Coalition (BSC)
Aims to establish and maintain a spirit of solidarity and support among the black students of Davidson College; to recognize the contributions of black persons to the college; and to embrace the diverse origins of the Davidson community.  For more information contact Kaneisha Gaston.

Building Tomorrow
Building Tomorrow is an organization on campus dedicated to raising awareness of and funds for vulnerable Ugandan youth, including those affected by HIV/AIDS.  We are currently working on to raise money to build a school for a community in Kampala, Uganda.  For more information contact Hannah Cheever.

China Club
The purpose is to present true China and promote communication about current China, to enhance the influence of Chinese culture on campus and enrich student's experience, provide great opportunities to know and practice Chinese language, provide networking and information for those who plan to study and work in China, and various enterainment and fun study break opportunities. Curry Club
Promotes awareness of South Asian Values and cultures through lectures, presentations, and native foods.  For more information contact Bealela Donnelly.

Davidson International Association (DIA)
Has grown from an organization that represented the interests of foreign nationals to an association for all Davidson College students interested in promoting cultural awareness and global interdependence.  For more information contact Gabriela Baldeon.

Dean Rusk Student Advisory Committee
The Student Advisory Committee conceives and implements ideas for programs, plans cultural events and study breaks, and publishes a newsletter on current events.  For more information contact Amelia Lumpkin.

French Club
The French Club seeks to foster and support interest in the french language and francophone cultures among all members of the Davidson College community. By sponsoring activites on and around campus we hope to bring greater awareness to francophone cultures without a fluency in French. For more information contact Ashley Parker or Sara Simon.

Hillel
Hillel at Davidson provides opportunities for the celebration of Jewish holidays and the exploration of Jewish heritage and faith by both people who are and are not Jewish. For more information contact Alexis Grant.

L.E.A.D.
Empowering Latino women in Mecklenburg County to enter the workforce by providing them with assessments of their resources, helping them with interviewing skills, and providing them with buisiness attire. For more information contact Gaby Baldeon.

Libertas
An arts and literary magazine, published biweekly, with open submissions for creative nonfiction short stories, poetry, and art.  For more information contact Nina Hawley.

Middle Eastern and North African Student Association (MENASA)
MENASA is an organization that focuses on addressing political and current event topics relating to all areas of the Middle East. MENASA also strives to spread cultural awareness on campus through Middle Eastern themed events and parties involving food, music, dancing, costume, and other cultural traditions from various parts of the diverse region.  For more information contact Adriana Marquina.

Muslim Students Association (MSA)
The purpose of the Muslim Students Association is to facilitate a forum of education on Islam, the world's second largest and fastest growing religion, for Muslims and non-Muslims.  MSA helps Muslim students find their place in the college environment. The MSA also celebrates Muslim holidays and promotes peace and cooperation with all other religious groups on campus.  For more information contact Ramiz Hamid or Salahadin Mohammed.

Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS)
OLAS aims to foster and maintain a spirit of solidarity among students interested in Hispanic cultures, including but not limited to Spanish speaking countries and their descndants. OLAS is an all-inclusive organization committed to promoting of the uniqueness of Hispanic cultures by providing a wide range of opportunities to participate in social, cultural, and/or communtiy service events for all Davidson students, Hispanic or non-Hispanic. For more information contact Melodie Mendez.

Society of Secular Students
The purpose of this organization is threefold: a) To provide awareness of secular and nontheistic lifestlyes and debunk stereotypes regarding them; b) to provide a forum for discussion of issues facing atheists and secularists; c) to provide service opportunities for the irreligious similar to those of religiously oriented service groups.
