Welcome to the Web site of Davidson College. I believe that the information and stories in these pages will give you an idea of our vibrant academic community, and I hope you will be inspired to visit our campus in person.

I first experienced Davidson as a boy, when my father would bring me to campus for basketball games and other events. I later experienced Davidson as a student, an alumnus, a parent, a trustee, and now, of course, I have the honor of serving as president of this remarkable institution. Still today, after so many years of knowing this college, I am surprised by its unique combination of academic opportunity, physical beauty, and human warmth.

As you browse through this site, look for our college’s Statement of Purpose. Read about our historic and active Honor Code, and how it binds us as teachers and learners. Look through the many events and activities—curricular and extracurricular. I believe you will get a notion of how busy, stimulating, challenging, and exciting Davidson can be, and I hope you will want to know more.
