Communication Studies

Prof. Pat Baker earned her B.A. in English and Business Administration and her M.A. in Organizational Communication from Queens University of Charlotte; her certification in Training and Development comes from UNC-C. She teaches two sections of COM 101: Principles of Oral Communication at Davidson each semester. She has taught such courses as Public Speaking, Organizational Communication, Advertising, and Public Relations at such institutions at Queens, UNC-C, and CPCC. In addition, Prof. Baker has provided diversity training for a variety of organizations (including the Huntersville Police Department, Continental Tire North America, and elementary school facilities in North Carolina), and she has held positions as owner of Crystal Communications, Vice President of Marketing for Total Care, Inc., Marketing Coordinator for Package Products, and Patient Representative Coordinator for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Hospital Authority. She has been honored as the North Mecklenburg Business Person of the Year, and has served as President of the North Mecklenburg Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rotary Club of North Mecklenburg, and President of the Central Carolinas Citizens Forum.
