The Central Carolina Amphibian and Reptile Initiative (CCARI) was conceived by Davidson College's Dr. Michael Dorcas and associates to help foster the desire to conserve amphibians, reptiles, and their habitats as integral parts of the ecosystem and culture through proactive service and education in the central Carolina locale and beyond. The website was created to allow visitors to learn about CCARI's vision, be informed about amphibian and reptile conservation, find out dates/information about CCARI events, and become active contributors by supplying data on amphibians and reptiles found in the central Carolina area through the Carolina Herp Atlas.
