He is the author or co-author of eight books, including The Cold War: A Post-Cold War History (second edition, 2005), Debating the Origins of the Cold War: American and Russian Perspectives (2002); Citizen Action for Global Change: The Neptune Group and Law of the Sea (1999); The Kennedy Crises: The Press, the Presidency, and Foreign Policy (1983); and The Public and American Foreign Policy, 1918-1978 (1978).
