Associate Professor Carole Kruger has taught French language and literature at Davidson since 1987.   Among the courses she has taught recently are “Innocence and Awareness,”  “The Novel of Adultery,” and “Quebec: Literature, Society, and Culture.”

Research interests include the nineteenth century French novel; nineteenth century discourses on work and poverty; and contemporary Quebec fiction.  In February 2005, Professor Kruger was awarded a Faculty Enrichment Grant by the Canadian government that will enable her to spend a full month in la belle province studying Quebec literature and society.

Resident Director of the Davidson in Montpellier program in 1989-90 and again in 1993-94, Professor Kruger directed the Davidson in Tours program in 2001-02, 2006-07 and 2010-12.

From 1994 until 2001, she served as Newsletter Editor for The Nineteenth Century Studies Association.  She has served on the Board of Directors of that organization, and has also sat on the Board of the National Association of Self-Instructional Language Programs (NASILP).
