AP / IB Credit

Advanced Placement

Students who have completed college-level work in secondary school and wish to apply for placement or credit at Davidson should take the appropriate AP exams.

Academic credit will normally* be granted for a score of 4 or 5 on an AP exam, for a maximum of four course credits.

In the event that a student takes more than one exam in the same subject (English, French, German, Spanish, and Latin), a maximum of one course credit will be granted. Davidson does not award sophomore class standing for AP credit.

International Baccalaureate

Davidson recognizes the IB Program and A-level Examinations for admission purposes and placement. Placement decisions are made by the Registrar in consultation with the appropriate department chair.

Academic credit will normally* be granted for a score of 6 or 7 on a Higher Level IB exam (5 at the discretion of the department concerned),  for a maximum of four course credits.
