The Program Davidson College offers an intensive two-course credit program abroad with Mundo Lengua and La Universidad de Cádiz. These course credits can be applied towards the major or minor in Spanish. Coursework is preceded by a week of travel through Spain. Upon arrival in Cádiz, students live with host families chosen by Mundo Lengua and approved by the Davidson director in residence. The four hour morning academic classes are enriched by afternoon cultural activities and excursions. In 2010, the Resident Director will be Professor Lola Santamaria.
The program is open to Davidson and non-Davidson students, with Davidson students having priority. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and having completed SPA 102. Freshmen through seniors are eligible to apply. Students will be placed at the advanced or intermediate level and will take the appropriate grammar, composition, and culture courses.

Estimated 2010 Program Fees:
The estimated program cost is $5,000 (subject to change) plus airfare. The following items are included in the fee:
1) Academic expenses (Tuition for 4 full weeks of classes (Monday through Friday) and instructional materials).
2) Room and board in Cádiz with a host family (including 3 meals a day and laundry)
3) Educational travel in Spain a) Pre-term travel including transportation, museum entrances, hotels, breakfast and dinner b) Short excursions during stay in Cádiz
4) Transportation between Madrid and Cádiz
5) Hotel in Madrid
Expenses not covered:
1) Airfare to and from student’s home to Madrid
2) Transportation between Madrid Barajas Airport and hotel in Madrid
3) Personal expenses, including lunch during the week of travel
4) Passport Fees
Kohler-Marchio Spanish Summer Language Study Scholarship The Kohler-Marchio Spanish Summer Language Study Scholarship was established by the parents of Stephanie Kohler '01 and Winston Kohler '05. This scholarship is given in memory of Stephanie and Winston's grandmothers: Florence Kohler and Estelle Marchio. Stephanie and Winston had very positive experiences during their summer programs in Monterrey, Mexico and Cádiz, Spain while at Davidson.
Davidson College students accepted to the Cádiz, Spain program are eligible to apply for the Kohler-Marchio Spanish Summer Language Study Scholarship. The application is due in the Study Abroad Office by Monday, February 22, 2010.

Applications, including all supporting materials, are due in the Study Abroad Office.
Application Deadline: February 1 Notification of Acceptance: February 15
Additional Program Information Davidson College reserves the right to cancel or modify part or all of a study abroad program should changing circumstances make it necessary to do so. In cases where the college has security concerns, the program director and the Dean Rusk Program Director will gather information and make a recommendation to the Dean of Faculty. The dean will take his decision to the president, who retains ultimate authority to decide whether or not a particular Davidson-sponsored trip should proceed.
