Pre-Ministerial Scholarships

Preministerial Scholarships for incoming students: Davidson offers a merit scholarship, the Williams Challenge Scholarship for one student in each class considering church vocations. The Williams Challenge Scholarship offers an award of $10,000 per year for four years and a stipend of $1000 per year to undertake ministry internships or attend related conferences. Contact the Office of Admission for more information on applying for this scholarship.

Davidson Fellowships in Religious Vocation and Leadership: These fellowships are available to Davidson College students of any faith tradition with a record of campus leadership and service. Students are nominated by faculty, staff and area clergy, and make formal application for these fellowships during their junior year. Fellows receive a stipend for a congregation-based summer internship following their junior year and participate in a non-credit vocational discernment seminar during their senior year. This fellowship opportunity is administered by the Office of the Chaplain.

Undergraduate Preministerial Fellowships: The Fund for Theological Education offers fellowships for currently enrolled undergraduates with superior academic performance and gifts for ministry who are considering, but not decided about, ministry as a career. Fellows participate in a summer conference and receive a stipend of $1500. These fellowships require nomination by a professor, administrator, chaplain or campus minister.
