The Center for Instructional Technology (CIT) is an important resource in fulfilling our mandate - supporting the integration of technology into teaching and learning. It is located in the south basement of Chambers along with the Language Resource Center (LRC) and Connolly Media Lab. The CIT is supported by professional and student staff during hours of operation, but is open to faculty 24 hours, 7 days a week. Cat cards are required for access.
The lab acts as a space for instructional technology development and consulting. It consists of high-end PC and Mac workstations and is equipped with tools to support the following functions :
Instructional web and multimedia development
Encoding for all types of media compression (the campus supports Real and Flash streaming)
Image, video and audio recording, capturing, editing and duplication
The CIT has a satellite lab located in the basement of the Watson Science Building, known as the FacDev lab. This space contains the same tools for faculty to use in their instructional technology projects, but also houses the large format plotter for poster printing.
Both the CIT and the FacDev are also used as testing grounds to explore and develop new technologies to enrich instruction at Davidson.
