Students are required to submit letters of evaluations to medical schools when they apply for entrance. These letters are typically sent when the medical schools request secondary application materials (i.e., after the primary application is submitted to AMCAS). The Premedical Advisory Committee at Davidson College provides a comprehensive evaluation which is recommended.  If you do not plan to participate in the evaluation, it is advisable to consult the appropriate medical schools about your decision.

The Premedical Advisory Committee, chaired by the Premedical Director, typically evaluates students  during the spring of their junior year.  A September evaluation is available by permission only.

The Premedical Advisory Committee evaluation is based on several factors:

transcripts from all colleges of matriculation
professional recommendations from evaluators chosen by students
medical experience
community service
interview with PAC Committee member

At the student's request, the Premedical Advisory Committee's evaluation is sent to medical schools.  This evaluation includes:

1)a cover letter generally explaining the Premedical Advisory Committee evaluation process
2)the Premedical Director's comments
3)professional recommendations from evaluators chosen by students
