The best measure of a student athlete’s achievement is not the win-loss column, but the people and communities that are changed when that athlete engages in competition.

Track of the Cat is one important way to highlight Davidson athletics from this point of view.

We want to tell the stories of individual students’ winning moments, reveal the impact their sport has in their lives, and show how those students, in turn, affect others around them. We want to show teams’ successes and challenges, their coaches, and their student leaders. Finally, we want to highlight the ways our alumni support and encourage Davidson student athletes.

Together, these stories, facts, and snapshots demonstrate how Davidson becomes a better learning environment because student athletes reach for something beyond the ordinary.

This refusal to be content with the commonplace sets Davidson student athletes apart. Do they always grasp the extraordinary?  Of course not, but they offer their teammates, their classmates, their professors, and their communities something more valuable and more useful. They offer us a model of reaching beyond the ordinary.
