I invite your interest in Clinical Psychology at Davidson. I hope this webpage can inform you about opportunities to study in our Department.
I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist, and I have been teaching at Davidson for 24 years. I feel privileged to have joined a department whose first Clinical Psychologist, William G. "Gaty" Workman, helped write the state licensing law in North Carolina- he held license #2. The Clinical Psychology tradition at Davidson includes alumni who have gone on to faculty positions at Fordham University, the University of Georgia, Florida State University, and other distinguished academic settings. Part of Dr. Workman's vision was also to provide clinical opportunities for our students at Broughton State [Psychiatric] Hospital, and scores of Davidson graduates have gone on to become licensed clinical psychologists. This group has included Presidents of North Carolina's Psychological Association, a Director of Child Mental Health for the state of Alabama, and many others who have very distinguished careers of service.
