Wilderness Leadership Skills Course
Interested in becoming a trip leader for Davidson Outdoors? Want to improve your leadership skills in an outdoor context? Hoping to get a great summer job working for an adventure trekking company? Well, join us for this 8 week course and we will help you on your way. We meet Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 9:30 pm.
Group Facilitation Skills Course
Looking to gain some group development skills while at Davidson. Join us for this facilitator course. We will use the high and low challenge course, portable initiatives, and structured group exercises to help groups develop.
Lake Jocassee Canoeing and Camping
Navigate South Carolina's Lake Jocassee in DO's 25' clipper canoes. You'll have a chance to camp in the woods and see gorgeous waterfalls. Join us for an excellent way to kick off the spring!
Mountain Biking
Learn the basics of safe single track technique and enjoy a weekend of excellent mountain scenery.
Appalachian Backpacking
Join us for some backpacking in the western North Carolina mountains. Get out and see the night sky in the mountains with us.
Smoky Mountain Backpacking
Join us for a backpacking trip in the Smoky Mountains National Park. We will spend four days hiking and enjoying the amazing views and wonderful biodiversity.
LeConte Backpacking
Looking for spring green, robin egg blue skies, and possibly a bit of the white stuff? Join us for some beautiful hiking for Easter Break. Four full days will give us time for an extended hike into the less traveled parts of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Road Cycling
Bicycling in the spring is super refreshing in North Carolina. Join us as we explore some quiet NC backroads.
Rock Climbing
Take your climbing skills outside and learn the basics of tying in, finding a route, and belaying, or, if you've already mastered the basics, tackle more challenging routes. We are probably headed to Pilot Mountain for two days of top-roping.
Outdoor-palooza Day Trip
Join us for a day at the US National Whitewater Center for all kinds of outdoor pursuits pretty close to campus.
Beginner Whitewater Kayaking
Learn basic maneuvers and principles of rolling a kayak in the pool and at the lake campus, then test your new skills on some North Carolina whitewater. A great introduction to paddling, not to mention a chance to play with DO's fleet of kayaks. A complete course for first-time kayakers.
Fly Fishing
Experienced guides will teach you the ins and outs of this graceful and relaxing form of fishing. Casting instruction included.
Day Hike
Join Davidson Outdoors for a hike on a warm spring day. We will find a trail that meets the physical requirements of our participants.
