The Dean Rusk Student Advisory Committee (SAC) plans international education and awareness programs on Davidson campus. The SAC works to enhance Dean Rusk programming through theme weeks, cultural events, tea time discussions, a breakfast lecture series, international photo contests and campus publications.
The Dean Rusk SAC receives annual funding from the Dean Rusk International Studies Program. We encourage other student organizations to co-sponsor events related to raising international awareness on campus. For more information and for event co-sponsorship proposals, contact SAC Event Coordinators, May Yadana Kyaw '14 and Yessenia Coto '13.
The Toilet Paper is the Dean Rusk SAC's monthly publication about international issues. Students contribute articles about international experiences that they have had or issues that concern them. The Toilet Paper is posted prominently in bathroom stalls across campus. If you are interested in writing, contact Toilet Paper Editor, Stefanie Cook '13.
Wanderlust is the SAC's annual Travel Writing Magazine. If you would like to submit prose, poetry or photos to the spring 2012 issue, contact the Travel Magazine Coordinator, Whitley Raney '13.
International Experiences 101s are opportunities for students returning from abroad, or for students interested in a specific country, region or issue to share their interests and experiences with their fellow students. If you would like to learn more, contact Zara Riaz '15.
If you would like to learn more about how to share your interests and experiences with the wider community through a presentation to local schools and community organizations, contact the Community Outreach Coordinator, Jessica Ewing '14.
If you are interested in co-sponsorship opportunities for events, please contact the campus liason, Brian Parker '15.
The SAC puts on Breakfast Series Discussions on current international topics of interests, led by visiting lecturers and our own Davidson Faculty and Staff. If you have an idea for a Breakfast Series topic, contact the Breakfast Series Coordinator, Corrine McCullough '14.
The SAC also puts on Tea Time discussions a few times a month to cover very current international topics. These discussions are informal and led by other students. If you would like to learn more or would like to submit a discussion topic idea to lead, contact one of the SAC Co-chairs, Amelia Lumpkin '13 or Yuxi Lin '13.
More information about the next Bank of America Lecture Series in 2013-2014 will be available during the Fall of 2013. If you have ideas for the next Bank of America theme, please contact the Dean Rusk Fellow, Mallika Kirti '12.
