Sophomore Programs

In the sophomore year, students are faced with a range of opportunities and decision points. Davidson offers  programs and resources to sustain the support from the first-year experience in ways that meet the unique needs of sophomores.  

 

Sophomore Year Strategies
Throughout your second year of college, several major landmarks should be reached to ensure future academic and professional success. In order to help you achieve these landmarks, we developed a series of strategies that are meant to encourage and help you thrive your sophomore year at Davidson!
Passport to Your Junior Year: Sophomore Resource Fair
This pilot program launches in February 2012 and brings together campus resources for current sophomores to help them achieve the Sophomore Year Strategies.
Dean's Dinners
The Dean's Dinners are monthly dinners for a small group of sophomores hosted by the Dean of Students.
Group Discussion Series
The sophomore discussion series provides opportunities for second-year students to reflect on questions and decisions they are facing relative to issues of identity, personal leadership and purpose.
Innovative Program Grants
Grants are available for teams of faculty, staff and students who develop collaborative programming that addresses issues relevant to the sophomore year.
Mutual Mentoring
The Mutual Mentoring Program pairs sophomores with members of the faculty, staff or wider community in a mutual mentoring relationship.
Halfway to Graduation Celebration
This pilot program launches in May 2012 and celebrates current sophomores as they finish their second year at Davidson and make it Halfway to Graduation. It will include great fun and food to commend their hard work!
