Physics at Davidson has a long, proud history, including the founding of the Sigma Pi Sigma national honor society here in 1922 and creation of the first X-ray in North America. Today’s Davidsonians continue to distinguish themselves.
Sam Castle '14 Gazes for Shooting Stars for NASA During Fall Internship
Sam Castle '14 has spent the fall semester studying those familiar flashes of light that streak across the night sky-meteors! Castle has been conducting research on "shooting stars," as they are colloquially known, since late August through an internship with NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.

Four Davidson physics majors had a lot to live up to at the recent 2012 Quadrennial Physics Congress. The congress was co-sponsored by the physics honor society Sigma Pi Sigma, which was founded at Davidson in 1922.
Honor Code Gives Students Options at Exam Time
At most colleges, students in a particular class take their exam in the same room, at the same time, with the instructor present class takes the exam in the same room The Honor Code allows each student to determine when to take that exam, and where in Chambers Building to do so.
