Davidson maintains the philosophy that residence halls are not merely a place to sleep and study but a place to live and learn. The residence halls should be healthy living communities and an integral part of the total educational setting. Key to this philosophy are the staff.
The central office professional staff are available to all students to assist with work orders, room selection, room changes, and card access issues and so much more. Furthermore, all Davidson residence halls are managed by live-in, master's level Area Coordinators - each Area Coordinator supervises a group of student staff in an area of campus. Davidson employs student staff members to help manage the halls, serving as resources, leaders, and point people in times of crisis. Resident Advisors are students who work in upperclass residence halls. Each RA supervises an individual hall. Hall Counselors are juniors or seniors who work in first-year residence halls. These staff members work in pairs to meet the unique needs of first-year students. Building Managers are seniors who work in the Martin Court Apartments. Each Martin Court building is staffed by at least one Building Manager.
