Tours & Information Sessions

We are delighted that you are planning a visit to Davidson.

A typical Davidson visit has two parts:

  1. The Campus Tour
  2. The Information Session

THE CAMPUS TOUR

Davidson campus tours are 75-minutes long and are led by current Davidson students.  Tour routes will lead visitors through:

  • Historic areas of campus and Chambers Lawn
  • Academic buildings
  • the E.H. Little Library
  • Athletic facilities
  • the Alvarez College Union
  • Dining spaces (the Union Cafe and Vail Commons)
  • A typical first-year residence hall

Our tour guides are energetic and able Davidson ambassadors trained to show you the college through their own specific experiences. They are honest about Davidson life and opportunities and are happy to field your questions at all points along the way. Requests for individual tours cannot be accommodated at this time.

THE INFORMATION SESSION

After your campus tour, you are able to spend some time with our admission staff to refine your understanding of the Davidson experience and to get better acquainted with admission policies, the college application process, and the Davidson Trust.

You will select one of two options for your information session:

Group Info Sessions might be better suited for prospective students visiting Davidson for the first time or for students just starting out in the college search process. They cover a wide range of Davidson topics and are designed to give you a sense for the college in broad strokes.

While Group Info Sessions are general in nature, our staff does not conduct stock, PowerPoint-style presentations; Group Info Sessions are dynamic and will be tailored to the interests and concerns of each audience. You will be able to ask specific questions of the presenter, but you will be able to learn from the questions asked by other students and families in the session as well.

Individual Info Sessions might be better suited for prospective students making repeat visits to Davidson or for students in their junior or senior years of high school.

While they will certainly give families a broad sense for Davidson, Individual Info Sessions are designed to be tailored to specific students and their concerns.  Families will have the opportunity to ask specific questions or voice sensitive concerns; the specialization of Individual Info Sessions might be appealing.

During the academic year, Individual Info Sessions are led by Senior Admission Fellows: seniors at Davidson trained as adjunct admission counselors.  Senior Fellows know both the Davidson student experience and the Davidson admission process.

The availability of Individual Info Sessions is limited.

Please note that Davidson does not offer evaluative admission interviews.

Whether you choose an Individual or Group Info Session is solely a matter of personal preference.  One type of session is not "better" than another; both types will give students and families a comprehensive sense for Davidson and all it offers.
