The Dean Rusk International Studies Program brings speakers, cultural presentations, conferences, and other international events to Davidson. Students and faculty inspire and help organize many of these programs. If you have ideas for a speaker or an event, please submit a Proposal for Event Co-Sponsorship to the Dean Rusk Program Fellow.

Ask Dr. Alexander, Director of the Dean Rusk International Studies Program all questions you had about grants: what kind of projects do we fund? Is your topic feasible? How can you prepare yourself best to write a good proposal?

"Wandering with the Watson"

Watson Fellowship winner Sara Bates '11 presents a photo exhibition of her experiences studying midwifery in a year-long traveling exploration through Indonesia, New Zealand, Cambodia, Brazil, Italy, Ethiopia, Tanzania and The Netherlands.

"Syria: What Does the Future Hold?"

Director of the center for Middle East Studies at the University of Oklahoma, Joshua M. Landis will present  a lecture on the revolution and the road ahead for Syria. His blog, "Syria Comment," is regularly referred to by policymakers in Washington, Europe and Syria. He has been widely quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, LA Times, and comments frequently for NPR and BBC radio.
